The Civil Air Guard Book Nothing connected with National Service can have so astonished its sponsors as the immediate and overwhelming response to the formation of the Civil Air Guard. The response was so great that many disappointed applicants had to wait several months before facilities for training them became available. This book was primarily addressed at them, outlining the rules, regulations and procedures of the Civil Air Guard. A large part of the book is devoted to the subject of flying instruction. Other chapters deal with the essentials of elementary pilotage; the valuable lessons to be learned. by gliding; the syllabus of the 'A' licence technical examination,together with full details of the pilot's 'A' licence. It was billed as a book that was indispensable to all members and aspiring members of the Civil Air Guard, and all civil flying pupil, also for anyone interested in the theory and practice of flying.l. ;

60 Minute Extended Flying Lesson (UK Wide) Experience the joy of flying in an adrenaline fuelled 60 minute flying lesson. An instructor will give you a briefing and introduce the controls and layout of the cockpit. From there it will be time to fly. You will learn about the principles of flying and if confident enough take the controls and feel what it is like to pilot an aircraft. Locations This experience is available at 27 locations. To see the full list click here. Important InformationFacilities and planes will vary between locations and the images used here are a guide only. Your voucher is valid for 10 months. If you are over 16 stone or 6ft 4 inches tall you will need to state this to the receptionist prior to booking and you may need to pay a surcharge on the day to be upgraded to a larger aircraft. All lessons are subject to weather conditions on the day and clients should phone on the morning of their lesson to check. Family and friends are welcome to come along and use the clubhouse for food and drinks. You must become a member free of charge on the day to be covered by insurance. Minimum age is 12. Anyone under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian to be with them on the day. All dates are subject to availability.
