The flight model »The small UHU« is characterised by easy building. Parts pre-fabricated to a large extent make the model successful quickly and reliably. By putting together the functional elements made of plastic in a sensible way, only a few of these moulded parts are necessary. Both the open channels of the hull are extremely stable owing to the ribbing and take up the tail boom. For a constant flight performance the aerofoil support at the hull is provided with a lock, which ensures a secure hold of the aerofoil from start to start. The flight model can be flown optionally with or without thermal brakes. For installing the time switch the necessary place is provided in the open channels of the hull. Upon launching the automatic curve control is triggered after the launch cord falls. The aerofoil with a double V-shape is made in conventional stringer/ribbed design. Covering paper is included in the kit. The smooth surface of the aerofoil without the protruding parts favours the easy mounting and transport. The main spar made of hard balsa wood placed at the upper side is adequately dimensioned and contributes to turbulence and hence to an improvement of the buoyancy.
The small UHU is the consequente enhancement of the previous model. In order to reduce the building effort considerably, the wing modelling has been changed i.e. the wing has no longer been made in spar/ribbed design and stringed with paper, but else is now made in the famous Jedelsky-design. By using a profile-shaped wing front-part, punched ribs for the setup of the wing as well as plastic moulded parts for building the hull the assembly can be done quickly even by the less experienced modellers. The aerofoil is provided with a locking so that it always sits in the same position on the fuselage. The small UHU can be flown with or without thermal brakes. The required space is provided in the left side of the fuselage for installing the time switch. Upon start-up the automatic turn controller is triggered after disengaging.
